Convert Inches to pixels

inches to pixels conversion chart

How to convert inches to pixels

To convert inches to pixels, you have to multiply inches by resolution. For example, a 4 inches wide object scanned at 300 DPI will have 1200 pixels on a computer screen. Most scanners allow you to change the DPI resolution from the software. If the scanned object is printed, then you have to scan it at the same resolution as the printer’s resolution.

How many pixels are there in an inch?

To find out how many pixels there are in an inch, multiply 1 inch by scanner resolution. Assuming the scanner resolution is set to 300 DPI, one inch will have 300 pixels on a computer screen.

Use the chart on the right for standard inches to pixels conversions, or the conversion calculator below.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a mobile app, and I don’t know any alternatives that I can recommend to you right now. But you can bookmark this page or add it to your home screen as you suggested.

Interesting but it doesn’t really help for designing something online to put on a wooden sign that has dimensions of about 9″W x 48″L

It would be better if it was obvious where the measure to find your PDI is, other than that it was helpful.

Why is it assumed that there is a scanner involved? I wanted to convert inches to pixels for a legacy web page that need some work and I just wanted to be consistent with the units used throughout the site. I worked around the issue by selecting a custom dpi of 72 which is the usual standard for screens. I suggest you allow the user to choose between Scanner and Screen conversions.

You’re right Julio. It does not have to be a scanner involved. The converter can work for any purpose that involves inches to pixels conversions.

This just a beautiful site, very easy to navigate, and it seems like the developer is good at getting back to the comments and questions. Very impressed in Wisconsin.

      Hi Jagan.

The formula is: Inches x DPI = Pixels

Thanks for suggestion, I will post the formula on a more visible area.
